Greater
Fallbrook provides numerous opportunities for golfers or aspiring golfers.
Fallbrook, Bonsall, and Rainbow have three public golf courses, two private golf
courses, one public training facility, and one private training facility. The
five full golf courses are all sanctioned by the USGA and the SCGA, and include
practice facilities among their amenities. Private lessons are available at all
seven facilities.
The Fallbrook Golf Club is located in Fallbrook’s Gird Valley. The
par-72 public course totals 6,223 yards from the back tees with a course rating
of 69.9 and a slope rating of 119. There is no official golf pro at the course,
but Ken Holloway is the club’s Director of Golf and Al Valentine is a PGA
teaching pro.
Amenities at the Fallbrook Golf Club include locker rooms with showers for men
and women, a banquet room, a restaurant (with limited hours), and a bar. Call

The Golf Club of California is Fallbrook’s only private golf facility.
Members and their guests are provided with an extraordinary experience through
excellent golf course conditions and first-class amenities.
The Golf Club’s 17,000-square-foot Clubhouse is scheduled to open in June and
will feature locker rooms with steam showers and Jacuzzis. Casitas will also be
available to members.
Scott Bentley manages The Golf Club and Pat Powers serves as the Director of
Membership Sales. The Golf Club of California offers both Family and Corporate

The Pala Mesa golf course is part of the Pala Mesa Resort. The par-72
public course totals 6,502 yards from the back tees and has a course rating of
72.0 with a slope rating of 131. Dana Gunderson is the golf pro at the course.
Amenities at Pala Mesa include banquet rooms, conference rooms, a restaurant, a
dining room, a bar and grill, a snack bar, tennis courts, fitness room, and a

The
San Luis Rey Downs golf club is a public course located in Bonsall. The 18
holes on the par-72 course add up to 6,750 yards from the back tees. The course
rating is 73.0 and the slope rating is 136. Greg Milligan is the course’s golf
pro.
Amenities at the San Luis Rey Downs golf facility include a banquet room, a
lodge, a dining room, a sports bar, and tennis courts. Call (760) 758-3762.
The Vista Valley Country Club in southern Bonsall is the only par-71
course among the five golf courses in Greater Fallbrook. The distance from the
back tees to the holes at the private, member-equity club totals 6,345 yards.
The course rating is 71.5 and the slope rating is 135. Michael Jack serves as
the golf pro.
Amenities at the Vista Valley Country Club include men’s and women’s locker
rooms, a banquet room, tennis courts, picnic areas, and an outdoor park for

The Circle K Golf Ranch in Rainbow is a private teaching facility. Free
lessons are provided for the disabled or for low-income youths and seniors,
while lessons for others are available for a fee. Lessons are available seven
days a week by appointment. Barry Krumwiede, a golf pro since 1964 and a PGA
member, is the head pro, and Danny Mayers is the assistant pro.
The Circle K
Golf Ranch is covered, allowing for lessons rain or shine. The facility includes
a putting green, seven tee boxes for hitting into nets, and a sand trap.
Krumwiede has plans to add two additional tee boxes and two additional holes.

The Golf Studio in Bonsall is a public training facility. It caters to
established golfers and features video work as part of the private lessons that
are available by appointment. Gordie Severson, a former PGA member and the
former golf coach at United States International University, is the golf pro.
