Foundation for Senior Care - old

The Foundation for Senior Care

is designed to meet the ongoing healthcare needs of seniors, and has remained steadfast in providing unique programs which are inaccessible by other government or nonprofit agencies. The Foundation for Senior Care performs valuable work within its three core programs: the Care Van, Senior Care Advocacy and Senior Day Care Center.

For those seniors who live in Fallbrook, Rainbow, Bonsall or De Luz and are unable to drive, the Care Van program is there to help by providing free transportation when it is most needed.

“Last year, we provided over 8,500 free rides for seniors; it’s becoming more and more popular,” said Morgan Cadmus, executive director.

When a senior needs a little more assistance, a Senior Care Advocate steps in to make life easier for the whole family. This program provides an array of wonderful support ranging from scheduling doctor appointments and accompanying a senior to the doctor’s office, to buying groceries and setting up minor home repairs. Elderly home safety issues are also assessed and the installation of grab bars has been an enormous help for seniors.

Another wonderful resource offered is the Senior Day Care Center. A hub for fun activities, it is the perfect destination for those who need extra assistance or may have memory impairment. Family members have complete peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are compassionately cared for at the center. “This program helps by giving caregivers a breather, a time of respite,” stated Cadmus. “Clients come for the social atmosphere.”

Coordinating and providing care to the senior community is the essence of the Foundation for Senior Care.

“Our mission is to identify, assess, promote and fund programs to solve health issues for seniors in our community,” Cadmus said. The Foundation celebrated its 30 year anniversary last year. “Despite our longevity in the community, many people are not aware the Foundation exists, until they need us. We are the best-kept secret in Fallbrook.”

The Foundation for Senior Care also hosts two fundraisers throughout the year to help raise awareness: Paws in the Park, which is always the Saturday before the Avocado Festival, and Dinner with the Docs, which is held in November.

“The Foundation’s programs and services are unique to Fallbrook,” said Cadmus. Computer classes are offered to seniors at the Foundation through a partnership with SeniorNet as well as CPR training through a partnership with Affordable and Quality Home Care, allowing for a richer life experience for seniors in the community.
