West Coast Truck & Auto

Shawn and Angelic Hudelson, owners of West Coast Truck & Auto since 2004, carry on Fallbrook traditions for both their shop and their family.

Built in 1961, the shop has a long history. “This auto repair facility has been serving Fallbrook for over 46 years,” says Shawn, “and we are proud to continue the shop’s tradition of honest service.”

Angelic recalls her father, Tom Harris, sharing stories of time he spent there. “In 1964, during his senior high school year,” she recounts, “my dad said he suped up his mom’s car at the shop with the help of my uncle, who worked there. Hearing his experiences gives us a real sense of the shop’s strong Fallbrook roots.”

From 1971, the shop operated as Gary’s Garage until it was purchased by Jim Serdahely in 1992. Serdahely changed the name to West Coast Truck & Auto Unlimited and operated the shop, along with car and truck race teams, until the Hudelsons bought it. “When I started working for Jim as a technician back in 1995, I never imagined I would one day own the place,” Shawn says. “Running my own shop is what I’ve always wanted to do.”

Shawn’s love of automobiles began early. “My mom took me to the El Cajon Speedway to watch the Saturday night car races. I knew then I wanted to spend my life around cars and racing.”

Angelic’s family has been in the Fallbrook area since 1931, when her great-grandparents, Mildred and Harry Geyer, moved here. “My late grandparents, Jack and Eugenia Geyer, were Fallbrook business owners for over 20 years,” she explains. “They opened the first coin-operated laundry in San Diego County right here in Fallbrook.” Her mother, Lorena Harris, has been the high school librarian for almost 30 years. “It’s gratifying to be a business owner in the same community that plays a key role in my family’s history,” says Angelic.
