Fallbrook Music Society has traveled a remarkable musical journey from the first concert at Potter Junior High to the 2007-2008 season, presenting 30 years of world-class symphonies that both delight and awe audiences. The Liszt Chamber Orchestra from Budapest, Camerata Ireland from Belfast, the Italian Saxophone Quartet and Spanish classical guitar maestro Angel Romero are just a few of the renowned performances featured this anniversary season.
On Sundays from September through May, music lovers all over North County attend symphony and chamber music concerts, being intimately inspired in the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts, acclaimed for its exceptional acoustics. Ben Simon, music director of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, was quoted as saying, “Who needs Carnegie Hall? Fallbrook has an acoustic marvel of a concert hall in the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts. We have played in halls around the world and Fallbrook’s [theater] rates among the very best.” (January 2007)
Fallbrook Music Society is committed to the cultural enrichment of their diverse community. Always striving to be the leader in North County, they present national and international classical music performances, including the summer symphony tradition “Symphony Pops on the Green” at the Grand Tradition.
Fallbrook Music Society partners with the Fallbrook School District in a unique developmental listening program educating students on the instruments and music literature of their heritage. This program fills a great need in our rural community, as such musical opportunities are often reserved for those living in or near urban centers. Fallbrook Music Society annually sponsors 70 curriculum-based music performances, including a brass or woodwind quintet or a string quartet, for more than 4,500 elementary students in a program integrated with classroom studies. They also present professional symphony concerts to more than 1,500 junior high and high school students twice a year.
Fallbrook’s emergence as an art and cultural center includes the Music Society as one of its leading gems. Isn’t it time you experienced world-class music right here in our own community?
