Zion Lutheran (K-8)

“Here at Zion, we are proud that our students have shown an 85% success rate in four-year colleges and universities. Some of our past students have graduated from USC, Harvard and Duke Universities,” says Scott Dufresne, Principal of Zion Lutheran School. “Our standardized test scores are in the top 20% nationally. We strive to offer a top notch Christian Education at a reasonable price.”

The school has provided students in Fallbrook excellence in education since 1984. Zion boasts smaller class sizes, (the maximum being 24 students), exceptionally credentialed teachers, membership in the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and NLSA National Lutheran School Accreditation. Zion offers classes for pre-school through eighth grade.

For students enrolling in second-grade to eighth-grade, an entrance exam is given to assure proper placement for students.

“We accommodate students who are high achievers as well as students who might need extra assistance,” says Mr. Dufresne. Zion offers GATE level programs and offers a challenging curriculum, which exceeds state standards.

Zion believes in the open door policy with both parents and students alike. “We ask that each family contribute 20 hours of service to the school. In all the years that I have been here we’ve never had a family refuse. This allows the parents to be part of their child’s education,” says Mr. Dufresne. “One of our yearly fundraisers that everyone looks forward to is the Golf and Dinner Auction, the parent participation is fantastic.”

The staff at Zion Lutheran School is committed to one another and treat each other like family members. The professionalism of the staff is evident within the classroom environment.

Mr. Dufresne has been at Zion 11 years, five of which have been in the position of Principal. His wife, Elisa, is currently the Youth Director, and their son, Christian, and daughter, Danielle, attend Zion. Plans are currently under way to add two new Lutheran High Schools to San Diego County where Mr. Dufresne will be taking over as Executive Director for Lutheran High Schools of San Diego.
