A short 18-mile drive from the Pacific Ocean, the greater Fallbrook area is well known for its gently rolling hills, lush groves, ancient oak trees, equestrian and walking trails, riparian areas, nature preserves, and Mediterranean climate.
Vintage Cars and Racecars
While motoring around the community, don't be surprised if you
see people driving beautiful vintage automobiles throughout the countryside. One
of the more popular pastimes in the area includes vintage car activities and
building all types of racecars.
Some 10,000 spectators, from miles around, travel here for the annual Fallbrook
Vintage Car Show and Swap Meet, which will be held on May 29 this year.
Each year, some 350 vehicles are entered into the show and over 50 vendors offer
automotive-related swap meet items. The show attracts over 10,000 visitors from all over the
country. Lee Taylor, a relative newcomer to Fallbrook and a member of the
club, is excited about the fellowship and many activities: “I moved to
Fallbrook from the San Francisco Bay Area and have found the Fallbrook Vintage
Car Club to be superior to the clubs that we had up north. It’s also a great
way to get to know people with similar interests.”
The beauty of this area makes a perfect spot for local Rod Runs and a
destination point for Rod Runs from other areas. Early on Saturday mornings
you can find vintage car enthusiasts with their beautifully restored cars at the
Sunrize Café in Bonsall’s River Village Shopping Center.
Vintage cars are also popular transportation for local weddings and anniversary
celebrations.
