A short 18-mile drive from the Pacific Ocean, the greater Fallbrook area is well known for its gently rolling hills, lush groves, ancient oak trees, equestrian and walking trails, riparian areas, nature preserves, and Mediterranean climate.
Fallbrook Agriculture
While
nursery plants account for the area's greatest industry revenue numbers today,
it is the popular avocado that has become our trademark product. A wide variety
of citrus and exotic fruits, macadamia nuts, kiwi, persimmons, pomegranates,
wine grapes and more, compose the remainder of the agricultural industry here.
With several packing plants, Fallbrook and Bonsall businesses support operations
of all sizes.
The Fallbrook area is known internationally for its robust avocado crop — serving
high profile establishments, cruise lines, and an amazing network of grocery
stores — it accounts for approximately $26 million per year of the agricultural
industry here. Flower fields, greenhouses, and other nursery growing grounds are the highest-grossing agricultural concern here at $86 million per
year. Citrus fruits, with their aromatic blossoms, account for $1.3 million per
year.

earliest settlers arrived in the 1800s from Pennsylvania.
Fallbrook Farming
"Our farmers grow over 200 different crops, probably more different crops than
anywhere in the country, and the acreage is much different. It’s small family
farms, like ours in Fallbrook." says Janet Kister, local Fallbrook farmer and
president of the San Diego Farm Bureau.
